Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Explained
"You are feeling sleepy, very, very sleepy" is the catch-line that many people associate with the stage hypnotist, the watch swinging showman with hypnotic eyes that could pierce a stone.
The above statement is probably the most common perception that people have about hypnosis/hypnotherapy.
It is undoubtedly a mythical one, and I have spent a lot of time over the last 35 years trying to dispel this myth.
Hypnosis has been associated with stage shows and the mysterious.
It is for that very reason I had this website designed to set the record straight.
As you browse through my hypnosis web site, you will be enlightened as to the incredible benefits achieved, using my techniques of Fast Track Hypnosis.
People assume they can be made to do something against their will while under Hypnosis.
If that were the case, you would find me, not in my office, but down at the bank manager, swinging a little watch at him. Telling him to forget about my overdraft, and we would all be hypnotists doing precisely the same!"
Stage Hypnosis
Stage Hypnotists like to give the impression that they are controlling a person's mind. No one can be hypnotised against their will, or forced to do something objectionable.
Hypnosis, when used in therapy, helps to give people more control over their lives- not less.
Another myth is a person might be unable to ever come out of Hypnosis.
If true, there would be millions of bodies lying in a trance all over the world, and we would all read about it!
Fast Track Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is used to improve a person's general functioning - mentally and physically.
It can be used with significant effect to help correct a wide range of problems (See Problems web page). Hypnosis itself is only a state of relaxation with an altered state of awareness.
It means that people are treated not with Hypnosis, but treated in Hypnosis.
The subconscious mind can then accept positive suggestions helping to alter past behavioural problems, such as phobias, stress, confidence, etc., as well as simple ones such as stop smoking, weight control, etc.
"Dear Alan,
As you know, I came to see you the first time, more at the insistence of my wife. All without any real hope of finding a let-up in the depression and nervous tension headaches which had plagued me for some time. Painkillers, antidepressants - I tried the lot.
I was admitted to the hospital for treatment with no lasting benefits.
Yet here I am - unbelievably (and to my wife's relief) a changed man, needless to say, a very happy one.
Thanks for your treatment and CD's - I only wish that I had tried Hypnosis years ago, how different our lives would have been.
I am eternally grateful.......George "
ONE Session Fast Track Hypnosis - Simple Problems
Fast Track Suggestion Therapy is for simple problems such as Smoking Cessation, Controlling Weight, Gastric Band Hypnosis, Relaxation, etc.
They usually require ONE session (laser therapy is included at no extra charge for the Smoking Cessation or Controlling Weight and is entirely optional if you so wish).
It is using Fast Track Hypnosis with its calming and relaxing effects, with positive suggestions implanted.
These take root in the subconscious part of the mind. The suggestions alter the bad habits that have built up in your everyday life.
Nail-biting is usually over two sessions, but the follow-up session is free of charge.
A professionally produced download to reinforce all of the suggestions given and to aid relaxation is also provided
Guarantee
In the unlikely event of you experiencing any difficulties, within the month of the session for anti-smoking or weight control sessions, and you require a booster session, this second session is FREE of charge.
Fast Track Hypnotherapy-Deep Rooted Problems.
If the problem is deep-rooted (e.g. a phobia, anxiety etc) then more than one session will be required ( Normally 4 sessions ).
This would be discussed with you on the initial session as to the nature of the problem and what you wish to achieve from it all.
NOTE: The differences in the personality of each client make it impossible to be totally accurate regarding the number of sessions necessary.
However, the use of Fast Track Hypnosis dramatically speeds up the process to a few sessions.
As would be expected from the more conventional '1000 hour' analysis or from conventional Hypnotherapy which would take much longer.
Downloads are also provided to reinforce the ongoing results as you progress.
Finally, you will be taught self-hypnosis to be able to give yourself positive suggestions without downloads.
Hypnosis is only a state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion.
Fast Track Hypnosis is a method that I created over the years which combines Hypnosis, Laser Therapy, (if required), and special audio and visual techniques in an exclusive package.
It rapidly helps a person overcome their problem in 3 or 4 sessions ( simple problems normally only take 1 session) as opposed to traditional hypnotherapy which can take much longer, sometimes up to 15 sessions.
Recently I had a client who had very severe toothache and who had not been to her dentist for over 20 years due to her dental phobia (Odontophobia) and was in utter agony.
A conventional Hypnotherapist would then want to regress the client back to try to trace the cause of her phobia over a series of weekly sessions ( between 12-15 sessions).
Using my Fast Track Hypnosis after two sessions (over 2 days) my client then went to the dentist, had the tooth removed and that was that!.
Basically the client had a problem and wanted it to overcome there and then.
She didn't want to endure the toothache for a further 3 months while attending a conventional Hypnotherapist to talk about her childhood.
No, although the degree varies from person to person.
No, not unless previously agreed with their doctor.
No, although the degree varies from person to person.
Depending on what the problem is, as shown on the following pages, it may take more than one session.
The success rate is surprisingly high - because of the specialized Fast Track techniques used. Therefore not only is the commitment needed, but also the need to be and feel free and at last, live a new life the way you want to.
There is no reason why you should put up with something 'inside yourself but outside your control'. Provided you are prepared to devote time, effort and self-discipline to be free of your problem.
No. All my sessions are completely private and individual.
I do not do group sessions or seminars where there are a lot of people attending them.
Simply because I believe that my clients are individuals and their problems are personal to them and should be treated as such.
Also, be very wary of 'Hypnotherapists' who advertise 'special offers' for the month.
Question as to why they have to do this?.
A good, ethical hypnotherapist would NEVER need to resort to this to merely attract potential clients through their door.
Yes. The predominant feeling of most people is "It didn't work for me - I wasn't put out".
No. You are just extremely relaxed.
No! I am asked about this on occasions and I always refuse.
It serves absolutely no practical purpose in therapy and I would be very wary of anyone who offers this. It is a phenomenon called cryptomnesia.
Cryptomnesia is an instance of extraordinary memory.
Some people, under hypnosis, are able to recall with astonishing detail something he or she has read, seen or heard for the briefest of moments and then has taken on the character role.
In one documented case, a psychiatrist was amazed when his hypnotized patient began writing a passage in an old form of Latin.
An investigation revealed that the patient had overseen the passage in a book that someone sitting next to him in a library was reading.
Warning!
No ethical Hypnotherapist would ever use this as a therapy as it only plays on a person's vulnerability and lack of understanding about hypnosis.
It should only be seen for what it is - a party trick!
