" I approached Alan as I suffered exam stress. Prior to my consultation I had previously walked out of exams due to stress. This was despite having prepared properly. After my consultation I passed every exam."
Exam Stress and Studying.
Nearly everyone has suffered from exam stress at some time in their lives. It’s all part of sitting exams.
Many people are able to learn and digest information well.
Yet when it comes to being tested in an exam, they can suffer from ‘exam stress’ and simply go to pieces.
Whether the student is at school, University or perhaps studying a new skill for their profession it can be a stressful time.
Many face concerns over the fear of failure, or not being able to remember what they have learned and to apply it on the day of their exams.
For some, it isn’t just the anxiety or ‘nerves’ at the time of the exam but very often it is weeks or months ahead.
Perhaps the person had suffered a bad time during previous exams and is worried it is all going to happen again.
They are so nervous in the run-up to the exam and unable to get much sleep the night before, leaving them tired and unable to function correctly the next day.
(According to research, students who sleep and eat well and regularly, perform best in exams)
Students feel depressed and can suffer from panic attacks.
I constantly hear from clients, after hard studying when the test paper is put right in front of them their mind goes blank.
Consequently, it leaves them unable to remember anything about their subjects.
Nerves and anxiety got the better of them and their ability to remember simply stops working!
While they are confident in the subject for which they are being tested at any other time, their “nerves" cause them to ‘let themselves down on the day.
People taking exams sometimes have some or all of the following symptoms.
- A growing feeling of impending doom in the days and weeks leading up to the test or exam.
- Dryness of the mouth, upset stomach, tension headaches, insomnia, etc.
- Their voice quivering and weak in an oral exam.
- Unable to write, type or do other manual tasks because their hands are shaking so much.
- Staring at an exam paper… and not being able to think of a single answer!
- Feeling unease in advance….

By re-training the brain to respond with calmness and being totally focused, thus improving memory and recall.
Normally only one session is required for exam stress, however depending on the severity of the problem more than one session may be required.
This would be discussed with the client before any session commences.
The Client is also provided with a CD to reinforce the suggestions given in the session.

Dear Alan, I was able to successfully complete the first year of a masters degree. Your support, encouragement and genuine attitude have allowed me to develop a much more positive self-image. I now look forward to the future with hope. Thanks for being a good friend, Christina.
As a recent Psychology graduate, I can only say that you cannot underestimate the power of the mind. You can achieve anything if you can focus your thoughts etc. I feel that Hypnotherapy certainly assisted me in focusing my thoughts on studying and passing my exam. For me, Hypnotherapy worked.
